Join us on Thursday 1st October for our first MANCHESTER LEATHERDYKE CLUB FUNDRAISER where we will be screening Michelle Handelman's 1995 BloodSisters: Leather, Dykes and Sadomasochism, essential viewing for any fledgeling (or veteran) Leatherdyke!
BloodSisters (1995, dir. Michelle Handelman) is part documentary, part love-letter to San Francisco’s leatherdyke scene in the early 1990s. Featuring interviews with eight self-described Leatherdykes, this groundbreaking film explores SM, political activism, the Lesbian Sex Wars, gender nonconformity, survival, risk and belonging.
Content Warnings: Needles and needleplay, blood, explicit and graphic sadomasochism, discussions and brief depictions of knife play and death, mentions of abuse
ALL WELCOME. This event is not exclusive to Manchester Leatherdyke Club members, nor is it exclusive to self-identified Leatherdykes-- if you have an interest in Leather, Dykes, Sadomasochism or general Queer history, you are welcome to the screening!
We have some NOTAFLOF (no-one turned away for lack of funds) tickets available. If this applies to you, please send an email to manchesterleatherdykes@gmail.com for how to access these. All profits from ticket sales will be going towards putting on future Manchester Leatherdyke Club events and workshops.
