WHAT COMMUNITY?
We’ve been fed endless content about community. But are we actually practising what we preach?
We’re constantly told to find our people, build genuine connections, support one another and create authentic communities.
Social media is full of conversations about authenticity, collaboration, solidarity and “supporting the community”. But when community itself becomes content, branding and something we’re expected to perform publicly, what does authenticity actually look like?
Is it genuine? Is some of it performative? Are we actually showing up for each other in the ways we say we do, or have we simply become very good at talking about it?
WHAT COMMUNITY? is a raw conversation bringing together artists and creatives to unpack what community actually means, beyond the posts, panels, networking events and language we're seeing online.
We’ll talk about finding your people, building relationships that aren't purely transactional, navigating competition and cliques, supporting each other in practice, and what it really takes to create spaces where people feel they belong.
There are no easy answers and this isn't another networking seminar telling you how to “build your network”.
It’s a space to question the idea of community itself, share experiences and have an honest conversation about whether what we say we value is reflected in how we actually show up.
Come with your thoughts, experiences, disagreements and questions.
