Celebrate 40 years of Sistermatic and the Black Queer Dance Floor with a landmark celebration honouring the pioneering Black lesbian club night and the generations of queer culture and community it helped inspire.
Founded in the 1980s by Yvonne Taylor, Eddie Lockhart and other Black women, Sistermatic was the UK’s first Black lesbian-run sound system and queer women’s club night collective. Its renowned parties at the South London Women’s Centre in Brixton brought together soul, reggae, lovers rock, disco and community at a time when dedicated spaces for Black lesbians and queer women were rare.

Four decades later, we celebrate that legacy in collaboration with Brown Suga by Moonlight Experiences, an intentional gathering centring Black, Global Majority queer women, non-binary and trans folx. Together, we bring generations together through music, movement and community to imagine new possibilities.
Brown Suga’s Queer Partner Dancing returns, kicking off the day from 3pm offering an introduction to sensual movement, Afro-diasporic music and traditional dance. No partner or prior experience is required. Dance style to be revealed.
As the evening unfolds, DJs Shineeye and Kaspa take over the dance floor with soul, lovers rock, nostalgic 80s, ’90s sounds, Raggae, disco, R&B, hip-hop, Afrobeats, border-free music, Afro-Latin, dancehall and soca.

Dress code: Tailored suits, dapper looks, flowing dresses, bold silhouettes and expressive styling are encouraged but never mandatory.

- Queer Partner dance from 3:15pm - 5:15 with social dancing until 6pm

- Food will be available throughout the event until 22:00,
