King Loose Willis / Embellishing for Stage: Workshop and Coworking Space
Sunday 8th November
2pm - 5pm
Loose Willis is an international, award-winning drag king and a costume maker whose sewing work has appeared on television and the West End, as well as many private commissions for burlesque and drag performers. In this workshop, Loose will introduce to you key embellishing techniques that are all achievable by a home crafter, without the use of a sewing machine, such as rhinestoning, appliques, trimmings and fringe. He will also share resources with you on how to embellish on a budget, advice on where to source supplies and things to consider when building a look for the stage. After this introduction, the rest of the session will be a crafting social space where you are invited to bring a project you’re currently working on - whether that’s sewing, rhinestoning, embellishing or anything you can bring! - and work on it in the room together, sharing tips and ideas with your fellow crafters and making progress with your projects.
Loose will also be on hand to offer advice and ideas on how to achieve your goals for your costume.Hand sewing supplies and some embellishing supplies will be provided in the space, and there is access to sewing machines, should you feel confident using them.
Help is also on hand from Medusa Has Been (Anthony Psaia and the Triangle team)
