Dangerous Architectures
Pol Esteve Castelló in conversation with Catalina Imizcoz
Dangerous Architectures offers an exploration of cultural categories such as sexuality, comfort, gender, pleasure, and health, through a series of anonymous and collective architectures that accommodate social practices outside the norm. This compilation of six short texts and an interview approaches spatial practices that have resisted being part of architectural historiography, thereby revealing the relationships between spaces, technologies, bodies, and subjectivities that shape our societies beyond the frameworks of hegemonic desire and power.
Pol Esteve Castelló are a PhD architect, researcher, and educator. Their practice explores the relationship between space, technology, and the body, with a focus on non-canonical histories, anonymous architectures, non-normative bodies, and aesthetics as a political tool. They are the author of the book Arquitecturas Peligrosas / Dangerous Architectures (Puente Editores, 2025 / DPR, 2026). They are co-founder of architecture studio GOIG awarded with the FAD Prize in 2022, 2024 and 2025. They are affiliated to the Architectural Association London and ETH Zurich.
Catalina Imizcoz
Catalina Imizcoz is an editor and researcher with a PhD in Exhibition Studies and an editorial-curatorial practice as the founder of Pina magazine. Born in Buenos Aires and based in London, her positionality and work engage with the ongoing and complex ontological affects of modernity/coloniality. Through research, writing, public programming, exhibition-making and teaching, she challenges the normative binary constructs — object-subject, nature-culture, body-mind, white-black, male-female, among others — of Western capitalist modernity, understanding these binaries as symptomatic of our current crises. Her practice considers non-normative possibilities and more-than-modern worldviews.
Event in English.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase after the talk.
