In a world (and by world, we mean East London) where most queer club nights are trying to be Berghain, we're not afraid to stand out x
Named after Bollywood and Celebrity Big Brother icon Shilpa Shetty, Club Shilpa is a night out from a South Asian POV, celebrating noughties house, queer pop classics, recession-era bangers and divas of all kinds.
Think 2000s and early 2010s dancefloor nostalgia, with Y2K Bollywood, bhangra beats and South Asian club edits woven into the mix. Where Bollywood divas meet British noughties huns, with all the camp, glamour and fabulous chaos you'd expect. We're bringing you something that's not quite your typical Bollywood night, and definitely not your typical gay pop night either.
Sounds like…
Hedkandi, Girls Aloud, Sugababes, Freemasons, Booty Luv, M.I.A., Kelis, Kelela, Madonna, Björk, Mutya Buena, Basement Jaxx, The Saturdays, Shygirl, Azealia Banks, Kylie, Janet Jackson, Confidence Man, StoneBridge, Mini Viva, Röyksopp, Missy Elliott, Charli XCX, Robyn, SOPHIE, Fcukers, Jessie Ware — plus Y2K Bollywood nostalgia, bhangra beats and South Asian club edits.
If you'd like to witness the debut of this queer haven where everyone's welcome, come along to Club Shilpa at the Queen Adelaide in Bethnal Green on Friday 13th November, from 10pm–3am.
See you soon girls x
