Introducing MSJI Film Club by Muslim Social Justice Initiative 📽️: a social cinema club, screening beautiful films from the Muslim world 🎞️🍿
We’re incredibly excited to invite you to an exclusive screening of ISH, the award-winning debut feature from British artist and filmmaker Imran Perretta.
Set in Luton, the film follows 12-year-old best friends Ish and Maram as they navigate the joys and complexities of growing up. When a police stop-and-search threatens to tear their friendship apart, the boys are forced to confront the realities of a world that refuses to see them simply as children.
Shot in stunning black and white, ISH is a tender, powerful and deeply affecting coming-of-age story exploring friendship, identity, masculinity and the impact of state violence on young lives.
Doors open at 18:30 with somosas and light movie snacks for a 19:00 screening. There will be time to discuss the film in community afterwards.🍿
MSJI Film Club is pay what you can. Choose the level that works for you, with all contributions going towards sustaining our community film programme.
