Come celebrate the launch of Girl Crush Prayers, my debut novel, hosted by very famous cabaret artist, Mark T Cox, and featuring stand-up comedy from Irish talents, Grace Mulvey and Ciara Barnes. Have some bubbles, have a giggle and have a singsong to the musical stylings of Ireland's most famous and fabulous cabaret performer.
Girl Crush Prayers will launch on 10 November, as a novel serialisation. Starting with the first three chapters, one new chapter will drop each week, finishing in February 2027.
The Host:
Very busy, very famous international cabaret star Mark T Cox has been spreading himself around the Irish and UK cabaret scene for over 10 years. Mark can be found most weekends bouncing between the East London queer circuit, West End piano bars, plus performing and hosting a range of Irish events in London, working closely with The Irish Embassy, The London Irish Centre, and Irish in Britain. Mark has just wrapped up his debut solo show, Paddy Daddy and is currently a resident performer at the Roses of Elagabalus, East London’s Queer Clubhouse. Online, you can find Mark hosting his weekly podcast Your Internet Boyfriends.
The Book:
When Grace revisits her childhood church, in small-town Ireland, it's filled with memories. At eighteen, she escaped the scrutiny of her mam and granny, and their Cold War-esque network of spies from the Ardkenny Post Office. Home has always felt... claustrophobic.
University - in England, no less - was Grace's fresh start. A chance to be confident in her own skin, and resistant to the free-floating shame that always seemed to stick to her. But as Grace navigates her sexuality - and faith - in her early years of adulthood, two terrible events implode the life she thought she was making. Now, with the post-university 'black hole' behind her, Grace is back in her childhood church. Did God really write her off, the day she put on her Repeal jumper? Is she eternally damned?
Who (or what) is Grace living for? And does the answer to that really lie back at the very start, back at home?
