Saretta Morgan
Form as Emotional Ground
Online workshop | 2 Dec 2026 | 18.00-20.00 (BST) 10.00-12.00 (PST)
What does your joy rest on or inside of?
How do you measure the distance between a wavering hope and the ground?
What spatial arrangements fortify your capacity for love? For resistance? Moral courage?
This workshop is an invitation to meditate on the particular imagined and material geographies that orient our emotional lives. We’ll consider the physical and psychic navigation of texts, images, and our own memories. Engaging the works of writers, healers, and land defenders, we’ll feel across distances and imagine formal strategies for translating those journeys onto the page.
Saretta Morgan is the author of the award-winning poetry collection, Alt-Nature (Coffee House Press, 2024), and a 2026 Haymarket Writing Freedom Fellow. Her work, which remains informed by personal and intergenerational experiences of incarceration, land stewardship, and grassroots care work, considers the environmental impacts of militarism and the carceral state. She lives in the U.S. South with her parrot, Gregory, and a lot of outdoor plants.
