This intimate evening celebrates Naseem Khan beyond the landmark report for which she is best known. Friends and colleagues will share personal reflections on the woman they knew, interwoven with readings from across Naseem’s writing, including her memoir, unpublished novel, screenplays, reviews and influential work on cultural policy.
It includes a drinks reception, keynote talk, and Naseem Khan: The Woman, the Writer and the Legacy; a selection of readings and performances celebrating Naseem’s life and work, directed by Sudha Bhuchar.
This free to attend evening celebration has been organised as part of a two-day Symposium: 50 Years Since ‘The Arts Britain Ignores’: Change, Continuity, and Cultural Power. Across two days of keynote talks, panel discussions, performances, archival encounters and conversation, the symposium will explore the legacy of Khan’s work and ask what has changed, what has endured, and where cultural power sits today. The Symposium is a ticketed event (sliding scale, £15-£40):
Day 1, on Friday 27 November, 1:30 - 5:30 PM, is hosted at King’s College, REACH Space, 3rd floor, Strand Campus, WC2R 2LS. Friday Only or Full Symposium tickets available here.
