Apparently, there's a shortage of mascs. We're here to bring everyone together.
There's A Masc Shortage is a community-led space celebrating non-conforming masculinity through fashion, music, connection and community.
We're kicking things off with a clothes swap! An opportunity to refresh your wardrobe, give pre-loved clothes a new home, challenge fast fashion and, most importantly, build community.
Whether you're a stud, butch, masc, trans-masc or non-binary person, this one's for you. We're creating a space to celebrate the many ways masculinity can look, feel and exist.
Femmes, allies, friends and partners are welcome too. Whether you're coming to swap clothes, support the community, enjoy some music or simply find out where all the mascs have been hiding, there's room for you.
HOW THE CLOTHES SWAP WORKS
Bring along your gently loved clothes, shoes and accessories and exchange them for something new (to you!) completely FREE.
1. BRING YOUR ITEMS
Bring clean, gently used clothing, shoes and accessories that you're ready to pass on.
Items accepted include:
* Shirts, T-shirts and tops
* Trousers and shorts
* Jackets, coats and waistcoats
* Jumpers, sweaters and hoodies
* Dresses, skirts and swimwear
* Shoes
Accessories such as belts, hats, scarves, gloves and jewellery are also welcome but won't count towards your item allowance.
Please note: We won't be accepting underwear.
2. BROWSE THE COLLECTION
Once everyone has arrived, we'll display all the donated swap items together. You'll have a few minutes to browse, check out what's on offer and decide what you'd love to take home.
3. LET THE SWAPPING BEGIN!
We'll swap one item per round, giving everyone a fair chance to find something they love.
The number of items you bring determines how many rounds you can participate in. Bring five items and you can pick five items. Bring ten and you can pick ten.
It's an honour system, so please only take as many items as you brought.
4. THE FINAL FREE-FOR-ALL
Once the swapping rounds are complete, we'll open up the remaining collection for a final free-for-all. Everyone who brought clothes to swap can help themselves to whatever's left.
Anything remaining will be donated to charity, so nothing goes to waste. And just like that, you'll hopefully leave with a fresh wardrobe, a few new connections and a much lighter carbon footprint.
NO CLOTHES TO SWAP? NO PROBLEM!
You don't need to bring clothes to be part of the day.
Come through for the music, drinks, conversation and community. We'll have DJs bringing the sounds throughout the event, including ThatGirlDee, Teyshass, delirious.blanc and MORE.
You can come to dance, socialise, meet new people or simply show some love to the community.
DONATIONS ❤️
Although the clothes swap itself is completely FREE, we're welcoming voluntary donations to help cover the cost of transporting any leftover clothes to our chosen charity donation point.
Every contribution will help us make sure that the clothes that don't find a new home on the day can still be put to good use.
Donations are entirely optional and whatever you can give is appreciated. All donations will go towards transportation costs.
