This is an online symposium on queer art and activism from Turkey and its diaspora, which aims to open a dialogue on contemporary art about alternative sexualities and non-conforming bodies from alternative geographies.
The symposium will feature two keynote speakers: Evren Savci (Yale University) will provide an overview of queer culture and politics in contemporary Turkey and Cüneyt Çakirlar (Nottingham Trent University) will present an overview of contemporary queer art practices from Turkey. The key notes will be followed by performative lectures from the artists Emre Busse, Erkan Affan, Mustafa Boğa and Selin Davasse.
This symposium is produced by supported Queer Art Projects in partnership with the Mountain of Arts Research (MARs) and Centre of Feminist Research at Goldsmiths College and CUNTemporary and and supported by Arts Council England National Lottery Project Grants.
