La JohnJoseph – an icon in the making according to Time Out – presents their new work following the success of ‘Boy in a Dress’. An uncanny, cinematic two-act theatre piece called ‘The Last Night in the Life of Alexander Geist is the latest from this playwright and novelist.
Alexander Geist was the musician who hypnotised an entire generation, before his shocking death twenty years ago. Framed as a ‘documentary in the making’, The Last Night in the Life of Alexander Geist explores his phenomenal success and untimely demise from a series of contrasting and sometimes conflicting points of view. His biographer seemingly exaggerates the extent of his insight, whilst the executrix of his estate is apparently holding onto secrets. Meanwhile a revelation straight out of classic Film Noir threatens to re-write history.
