A fabulous evening of socially distanced drag bingo fun, all for an important cause...
The Apple Tree in Clerkenwell are now (Clerken)well and truly open again! They have a COVID-secure setup with plenty of space between tables and hand sanitiser provided. And guess what... they also are offering a happy hour to any ticket holders of this event! Read below for more info about their socially distanced setup.
After the huge success of January's Charity Drag Bingo, raising funds to help people affected by bushfires in Australia, Carrot returns to the Apple Tree with a vengeance. This time, they'll be raising money for the UK QTIBIPOC Hardship Fund, providing financial "support to Queer, Trans and Intersex, Black, Indigenous, People of Colour (QTIBIPOC) currently living in the UK who are affected by the outbreak and ongoing shutdown caused by COVID-19."
ABOUT THE NIGHT
If you couldn't make it last time, here's a brief outline of how the bingo silliness shall proceed. There will be a happy hour with discounted drinks (for ticket holders only) from 6pm - 7pm, and it'll be eyes down for the first round of 3 at 7:30pm. Each round will last around 20 mins, and there will be a break between them to grab another refreshing drink or delicious Apple Tree snack. Every round will have FABULOUS prizes for the first to fill a row and the first to fill an entire box on their bingo sheet. That's no less that SIX opportunities to win a prize...
For those of us who don't feel safe enough to go out, or are still shielding, fear not! You can also play along at home... The event will be live-streamed on Carrot's facebook page. Anybody will be able to tune into this livestream, however only ticket holders will be able to play along. Just buy one of the "play at home" tickets below.
TICKETS
Tickets are being sold as tables because we are requesting that people only attend with members of their household or 'bubble'. Although we currently only have tables of 3 or 4 available in the ticket section, if you have a bigger group and would like to sit together please get in touch with Carrot at carrotdrag@gmail.com and we can arrange something. It will be £5 per head and all profits will be going to the Fund. Please bear in mind we have a limited capacity, so don't wait - email now.
"Play at home" tickets mean those that tune into the livestream can also have a chance to win prizes! If you buy one (or more) of these tickets, your bingo sheets will be emailed to you directly in whatever format you prefer (pdf, jpg). You'll then have the option to either print it out, or play by ticking numbers off on your screen. If you get a line or a full box - you'll simply write "BINGO" in the chat which will be constantly monitored! Any prizes won by "play at home" ticket holders will be posted to the winners in the week after the show.
ABOUT CARROT
Carrot is a non-binary drag space vegetable described by Time Out London as a "ginger fever dream". They wear bright neon colours, are a little bit bonkers and take silliness very seriously. They've performed at venues across the UK from the Royal Vauxhall Tavern to Apollo Theatre to the Wales Millennium Centre to Glastonbury Festival, and like to treat every show as if they were a performing to a stadium crowd. Find out more about Carrot on their website.
It's been a long four months of lockdown, so let's have some fun whilst supporting local drag, local venues and an important cause. We look forward to seeing you there!
