Coinciding with the launch of Queer Bodies Zine, Homotopia & TRS are hosting a 3 hour performance marathon in which 12 queer, (mostly) Northern writers and poets read and explore the queer body from multiple angles, intersections and perspectives.
QUEER BODIES are fodder for debate about bathrooms, borders, eating disorders, and assault. We become containers for rage, sympathy, sites for projection, violence, fetish and fantasy.
We become inherently political, sponges for pain and pleasure. Queer bodies cannot exist quietly as ‘just a body’. Too dark, light, fat, thin, hairy, soft, hard. Too disabled, too camp, too trans, too much, and yet - we love, breathe, survive, breed, and thrive.
Our bodies are points of convergence for the future, the present and the past. We are explosive, dangerous, subversive, STI risks, statistics, HIV havers. Our water is thicker than blood. We exist despite but more importantly - we exist..
Hosted by Liverpool based poet Day Mattar & Brendan Curtis. The show will include new work from Antonio Rinaldi, Lyndsey Price, Maya Chowdry, Bea Albenese, Alma Lipari, Peter Scalpello, Felix Mufti-Wright, Tom Hessom, Mxstress Luna, Anthony Scott, Franklin Dawson, Rachael Mary, Frances Whorral-Campbell
Supported by Homotopia Festival & The Royal Standard.
