Do you have a bunch of candles lying around with only bits of wax left?
Christmas themed candles you want to use now rather than waiting until December?
Have you never made candles but always been intrigued to learn how?
Are you just bored and would like to learn a new skill while meeting other friendly queer people?
We have an accessible and soothing introductory workshop for you!
Roshan will be teaching candle-making to the sounds of Enya online over Zoom on Thursday 25 March 2021, 7-8:15pm.
What you’ll need:
- a hob or stove to boil water (and keep it boiling)
- a can/metal tin (like an empty tin of cannoli beans or chopped tomato can - washed and cleaned)
- a saucepan
- a stick to hold the wick in place (like a pencil)
We have two options for people who want to do the workshop depending on your access to materials.
Workshop + Candle Materials = £12
- Roshan’s workshop
- Wax enough for one medium candle
- A glass
- A wick
- Packaged up and posted to your UK address (order must be placed by 21 March)
Workshop only = £5
This option is excellent if you have old candles lying around you’d like to re-purpose, and empty glasses you’d like to re-purpose into candles. You’ll need a wick as well, but these can be purchased for a few pounds online. For example: here.
This is also an excellent option if you think you’d like to make many candles and would like to buy supplies in bulk.
If you have any questions about sourcing your own supplies and what kind of wax or glasses you could re-purpose, please email Roshan: roshanconn@gmail.com.
You’ll be amazed at how calming and rewarding it is to make a candle from scratch! Once you’ve learned you can go ahead and experiment with different scents, colours, and sizes.
Please note that this event welcomes LGBTQ women and non-binary people.
Cost: £5 or £12
