Join spoken-word artists Jasmine Gardosi & Charice Bhardwaj for a fun, dynamic online session exploring writing for performance. We'll talk about how to write and prepare for different types of performance as well as how to bring our own words to life, with a particular focus on LGBTQ+ artists and how we amplify our unique queer voices. A chance to share work and learn new performance techniques.
Open to all LGBTQ+ artists, poets, writers and anybody who speaks their words out loud.
Participants in this workshop will also have the opportunity to perform at a Spork! Queer & Still Here show on Wed 26th May via Zoom, headlined by Joelle Taylor.
Jasmine Gardosi is a multiple slam champion, Birmingham Poet Laureate finalist and recent winner of the Out-Spoken Prize for Poetry. She uses audience participation, beatboxing and manipulation of voice and body in order to explore LGBTQ+ issues, sex education and mental health. Her work has appeared on Button Poetry, at the Tate Modern, Glastonbury Festival, and across BBC Radio
Charice Bhardwaj is a performance-maker, poet and mover based in Exeter. Playfully bold, with sharp edges, she has a love for devising new works which attempt to explore sticky social topics with punch. Charice has made work with organisations such as Quirk Theatre, Beyond Face, and Out & About: Queering the Museum on a range of topics from British healthcare to Devon’s imperial history.
This 90 min workshop will take place on Zoom. You'll be sent a link after booking.
