Join us on 7 October for a live online talk presented by Street Art photographer Niki Natarajan, presented by Tavistock Heritage Trust and Tavistock Guildhall.
Painting walls has come full circle; from the advertisements of the 1890s to 1960s via the vandalism of taggers marking their territories, to muralists and ‘street artists’ getting paid for hand painted advertising on walls.
So what is the difference between graffiti, writing, tagging and street art; and what’s the point of it all? In this talk, Niki Natarajan, a street art photographer, will look at the different types of street art; the characters and motives behind some stunning works of art; and how from politics, to social inequality and the environment, urban walls are the place to ‘see’ the voice of the people.
