Labour of Love

We talk about “falling in love” – a trust fall. The moment you suspend your disbelief and hope that your loving gaze will be met and returned. But with time, you realise that as much as love is about a collapsing of boundaries, it’s about building something new, too. Artistic work made collaboratively within a couple creates something tangible from this process, enshrining the domestic minutiae and routine of the intertwined lives that underpin romantic relationships.

Labour of Love is an exhibition which brings together a range of London-based creative couples for an evening of photography, art, written words and music to explore themes across emotional labour, skillsharing and love to creatively explore the vulnerabilities of queer intimacy.

The Lineup

Heather Glazzard (they/he) @heather_glazzard

Heather is a creative director and photographer who lives and works in London. They have been commissioned by the likes of British Vogue, Coach, British GQ and Axel Arigato. He has also exhibited work at Photo Vogue Festival and Helsinki Design Festival.

Nora Nord (she/her) @noranordfromnorway

Nora is a filmmaker, photographer and podcaster based in London. She is the creator and host of podcast You & Me: Let’s Talk About ADHD and was shortlisted for the Wellcome Prize for her photography series Queer ADHD.

Hannah Parsons @hannahparshons (she/her)

Hannah is a dance artist, choreographer and performer based in London. She regularly collaborates with Unbaptised Infants and STICKY collective.

Beliza Buzollo @queergarden (they/them)

Beliza is a Brazilian photographer and art director based in London dedicated to celebrating queer power.

Rachel Ellen Hopkins @sc.ggy (she/her)

Rachel is a prop-maker, set and production designer and digital artist.

Xoey Fourr @xoeyfourr (she/her)

Xoey is studio manager at Studio Moross and director at Wimp Agency.

Hidhir Badaruddin @thehidhir (he/him)

Hidhir Badaruddin is a photographer, born in Singapore and based in London. Drawing from the themes of identity, gender, and sexuality, working across many genres to explore and document a generation of Asian Masculinity.
His work has been featured in Gay Times, Vogue India, Dazed, King Kong Garçon, and Notion among others. In 2020, Hidhir was announced as the recipient of the Getty Images Creative Bursary award for his photo series Younglawa.

Simone Casarotti @simone_casarotti (he/him)

Simone Casarotti is a London-based singer, songwriter, and producer from Northeast Italy.
Simone uses his music as a medium to normalise queer stories of love and young adulthood, which are engulfed in a summery Italian light as a nod to his background.

Loraine James (she/they) @setfiretoloraine

Loraine is a producer and musician from Enfield who releases music under their own name and the alias Whatever The Weather.

Megan Wallace (they/them) @meganhwallace

Megan is a journalist, editor and creative producer from Scotland.
