KEENO: A Monthly Film Club in Margate
KEENO functions more like a book club, where members independently watch a selection of two films each month, curated by Dan and Jack.
Our goal at KEENO is to spotlight lesser-known films, foster critical discussions about cinema, and explore the various ways we can access and appreciate film, both together and individually.
KEENO is a no-borders, non-linear film club. Films will not be selected on the basis of a ‘national cinema’, where we examine one nation’s supposedly distinct ‘film culture’ before moving on to the next. It is also not a film school, starting at the advent of the medium and working our way forwards. Instead, the two films each month will be chosen in ways which cut across time and space, and which together might shed some light on the themes and issues we’re keen to explore, including, but not limited to: love and longing; diasporism; death and dying; political oppression and resistance; consequence.
KEENO maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of discrimination. All KEENO events are safe spaces where we treat one another with equality, politeness, and respect at all times.
