About Made in Exile

Made In Exile is a workshop series in Rich Mix from 20-25 June 2025! Each workshop contributes to a large textile art piece on public view!

Have you ever been left behind? How did you remake yourself? What worlds did you have to reimagine?

As fellow exiles, we invite you to our temporary ‘home’ for a series of workshops where we paint, stitch, build, and learn together. We will sit with the discomforts of our time, using our individual journeys to illuminate new ways forward.

Join Farah to decorate our living room on Friday evening, 20 June, in a chappa woodblock printing workshop that asks us: What tools do we have to resist injustice?
On Saturday 21 June, come sit at our dining table for a day of Bengali crafts!
- In the morning, learn Bengali katha stitching and stitch your stories of heartbreak.
- In the afternoon, learn how to print-make with Bengali activist Rasel Rana.
- In the evening, read poetry and discuss texts that connect Islam, nature and the fight for justice (and do some midsummer crafting and ritual!)
Create clay mementos of your exile journey with Noel in our bedroom on Sunday, 22 June.

Ticket prices are set so there is a commitment to attend, however all proceeds go to organisations that support exiles. Please message if you cannot afford the ticket and you will be given one.
