Service Please! is a pay-what- you-can supper club initiative based in south-east London. We host community- focused supper clubs, aiming to bring together our local community and help people explore and develop new skills while having a delicious meal. Our events offer a restaurant quality three-course meal at an affordable price alongside a workshop taught in a welcoming, friendly environment. We’re run by volunteers and non-profit.
Our vision is to provide an accessible dining experience which challenges the huge inequalities in access to eating out, which have only widened as a result of the cost of living crisis. In the face of increasing social isolation, communal eating can be an incredibly powerful way of bringing people together and strengthening the local community. We also aim to work in collaboration with local community growing spaces and gardens, food organisations, as well as using as much surplus and locally-grown food as possible for our events.
In the spirit of community-building, the supper clubs will include a workshop where we can learn from each other, developing skills that are usually less accessible, whether they be crafts, DIY, or life-skills (just to name a few examples). Above all we hope to create events that welcome people from as many different backgrounds as possible, and contribute to the growing network of alternative food models in southeast London, placing community and accessibility above profit margins.
