TRANSHOOD is a black anti-disciplinary trans-led initiative - committed to centring the voices and experiences of Black trans and queer beings. The initiative was founded June 2024 by Cash Nahuo Webster, a Black trans-masculine lesbian from South London, and aims to create a radical space that uplifts and nurtures Black trans life, by creating intentional, affirming, and liberating environments for exploration, connection, and transformation.
TRANSHOOD is rooted in the belief that Black trans and queer beings deserve a platform to fully embody their truths, free from the constraints of cis-het-normativity and white supremacist structures. The vision is to create spaces where Black trans individuals can share, celebrate, and learn from one another, all while accessing the vital gender-affirming resources that allow us to thrive.
TRANSHOOD will host a range of Black trans-led events, from healing workshops to lively socials and thought-provoking forums. Each gathering is an act of reclamation, a refusal to shrink, and a declaration that we are here, unapologetically, in our full complexity and power. Through these events, we aim to build a powerful, interconnected community that centres care and radical black joy, with the unwavering belief that our collective liberation is possible.
