You Are Loved was created in response to the alarming rates of premature deaths in the gay, bi, queer male community from suicide and drugs.
Our mission is to counter these challenges by leveraging the community's strength, which has long been a cornerstone of resilience within the LGBTQ+ community. The organisation is actively working to break down the barriers of stigma and shame through awareness campaigns that share real-life stories, practical advice, and honest facts, all while providing resources and support for those in need.
Looking forward to spring 2025, YAL will launch its first peer-support groups, modelled after the successful Alcoholics Anonymous approach. These groups will offer a safe space for individuals grappling with mental health issues, those supporting loved ones, and those mourning a loss.
“As a community, we need to confront the stigma and shame associated with suicide and drug-related deaths, and we must support each other through open, unashamed dialogue about the underlying factors,” says Marc Svensson, founder of You Are Loved.
