Join Megan Elliott (she/her), founder of Clay Wild, for a relaxing queer pottery workshop at The Queery! The class will be focusing on traditional hand-building techniques using minimal tools and is suitable for all levels. Halloween Witchy Edition πππ
Date: Thursday 27th October 2022, 7-9pm
Location: The Queery, 46-47 George St, BN2 1RJ, Brighton, UK.
The Queery is a wheelchair-accessible sober space thatβs home to a radical and queer bookstore, a small library, and a small vegan cafΓ©. For more information, visit their website here. Please note: Whilst the space is fully accessible, parking on the road is pay & display (until 8pm) and there are limited spaces.
Price: Β£30 (you will take home two new creations!); each class, 20% of the spots are discounted by 50% for people with low income. Please only reserve one of these spots if you feel this applies to you. No proof required. If the spots are sold out and you would like to attend but are unable to afford a ticket, please contact me directly. There is an option to add a pay it forward donation to contribute towards the cost of these spots and to enable me to offer more low-income spots in the future.
About the class:
Participants will learn how to make a pinch pot cauldron* and a candle holder out of air-drying clay and will be guided through how to personalise their new creations. One vegan tall candle per person included!
At the end of the class, you'll be given tips on how to decorate your creations at home when dry. The cauldron pot will be suitable for things like holding jewellery/crystals, small plants or simply as ornaments.
No experience necessary - suitable for all levels! This is a class prioritising queer joy, embodiment and creativity in a safe, sober space.
Your clay will still be delicate upon completion, so please bring a little box or container to carry your creation home. A tub or a small box (approx shoe box size) is ideal.
*Cauldron shape is encouraged but not mandatory - feel free to make whatever you are called to π«
