GPN hosts a social & business networking event followed by an optional dinner on Tuesday 24th January 2022 at The Civil Service Club with Gerard (Gez) Tomnay as our Guest Speaker.
“This talk is for anyone who is in (or about to be in) a personal or business conflict and wants it to go away as quickly and cheaply as possible, or anyone who wants to hear about an alternative way of sorting out their disputes.
Gerard is an accredited Civil & Commercial Mediator and describes himself as a “Peacemaker” who helps people and businesses settle their disputes without going to court by using his mediation skills (and 35 years experience as a former City Solicitor) to discover what’s really at the heart of the conflict so they can find a mutually agreeable solution which allows them to move on with their lives.
Being a neutral, he is not emotionally involved so can help people reframe how they see the issues, think more clearly and put things in context (eg what is the dispute getting in the way of?/what harm is it doing to them and their business?/how much is it going to cost?/how long will it take to settle through the courts?/what’s the likely reputational damage if it becomes public? etc).
His short interactive talk will explain what mediation is, how and why it’s so successful, and why you should consider using it if you have any pressing personal or professional disputes (including family and relationship ones) eg it’s confidential, voluntary and much quicker and cheaper than going to court.
It also deals with how to avoid getting into disputes in the first place and explains how to recognise when you might be the cause of the dispute (and how to deal with that!)."

- 07:30 pm all participants have the opportunity to introduce themselves briefly (i.e. 1-2 minute). Such as: "Hi, I am J-F, Professional with Public Relations, Catering Consultancy & Events experience. I get people together and make it happen!" Short and sweet is always best and guests can ask you questions afterward.
- 8:00 pm Dinner choose and pay for what you want at the bar, in the brasserie on the ground floor please book in advance so that I can book the table(s), others can remain in the room or join us at the bar.
- 9:30 pm Carriages
