Local Plymouth promoters A Press of Suspects {presents} have teamed up with Soapbox Children’s Theatre to bring new Mum’s and Dad’s some much needed comic relief!
The unique event will take place at 11am on Friday 10th March and will feature professional comics performing their normal club sets for new parents who can’t get out at night!
Becoming a parent is a wonderful journey with many highs and lows. It can be an overwhelming and, at times, isolating experience. Comedy can be used to help build a sense of connection and also relieve symptoms of poor mental health. This show aims to help parents reconnect with their adult selves, an experience that is for them as opposed to their children.
Babies, children 2 and under, breastfeeding and general chaos are all welcome but please bear in mind there will be occasional swearing and adult themes.
Our initial line up is an absolute belter:
David Arnold: A Welsh man by birth but Plymouth based for 10 years (married a Janner), David is a regular on the comedy circuit, mixing mainstream and alternative material with aplomb! David Arnold is a Welsh stand-up comedian based in the South West with a versatile style suitable for all audiences. David has been performing on the 'alternative' circuit since 2012 and has performed all over the UK for some of the countries biggest promoters. A warm and engaging presence, David has recently won through to the finals of British Comedian of the year! An absolute treat of a man. www.welshdavecomedy.com
Suzy Bennet: A born and bred Plymouthian! Former Butlins Redcoat and proud Devonian Suzy ‘accidentally’ won an award on her 6th gig and has kept the laughs, and her accent, going strong ever since, performing around the UK as well as overseas. She is the voice of the ‘Plymouth Trails’ Tour app and was recently named as one of the ‘50 Coolest people from Plymouth’ by the Evening Herald (It was in no particular order so she assumes she came third after Dawn French and Wayne Sleep).
All hosted by:
Willtordian Ballorian Edwardian: The baby of the bunch moved to Plymouth 4 years ago and performed his first ever stand up set in the city. A man with a penchant for owls and a celebration of the absurd silliness of life! Expect chaos, music, prizes and owls....
