May saw the incredible Stephen Carlin headline Comedy @ Royal WIlliam Yard with two sell out shows. We are back at the end of June and are excited to announce our headline act is the Plymouth local legend Suzy Bennett! We're taking August off so cannot think of a better send off than 'our Suze. The support acts are, quite frankly, ridiculously good…
We have teamed up with Block and will be using their beautiful Melville room for our comedy events situated in the heart of Royal William Yard. Discounts also apply to selected restaurants at Yard: Wagamama, Hook&Line, Wildwood and Hubbox.
The full line up is:
Suzy Bennet: A born and bred Plymouthian! Former Butlins Redcoat and proud Devonian Suzy ‘accidentally’ won an award on her 6th gig and has kept the laughs, and her accent, going strong ever since, performing around the UK as well as overseas. She is the voice of the ‘Plymouth Trails’ Tour app and was recently named as one of the ‘50 Coolest people from Plymouth’ by the Evening Herald (It was in no particular order so she assumes she came third after Dawn French and Wayne Sleep).
Ben Van Der Velde: Ben is a stand-up comedian, actor, improviser and presenter. Over the past decade he has spread joy and nonsense to all four corners of the globe, picking up various accolades and fans everywhere he visits. He even warms up the Deal or No Deal audiences before Edmonds arrival - imagine that!
Phil Wathern: Bristol comedian with the expert timing to have made his first steps into live comedy just weeks before the pandemic made it illegal. Expect well constructed, self-deprecating and generally dour joke-packed routines, delived with a deceptively charming and laid back stage presence, from a 2022 Stand Up For Cider new act competition runner up.
Hosted by the Anarchic Willtordian Ballorian Edwardian: A Plymouth resident of 6 years, he has built a reputation as an original comic with a number of songs and skits regarding a variety of topics. A warm and lively host.
