Romancero Books with the support of the Office for Cultural and Scientific Affairs of the Spanish Embassy in London and AC/E Programme for the Internalisation of Spanish Culture presents the III Festival of Queer Literature in Spanish in London - FQLSL
Launch of KINK39 With their directors Paco y Manolo - followed by the Festival's Official party with Jimmy Acid and 2CPERREA
KINK39
KINK is subersive, sexy, hot, sensual, fun and the zine to have. We all know someone who was featured there; your friend, your housemate, your ex, and quite probably your future one-night-stand too.
Kink is THE Spanish queer zine, out there since the early 2000's.
We are very pleased to have the honour of hosting the launch of KINK39 at the festival and talk their directors Paco y Manolo about the relevance of printing a meta independent zine nowadays and how important this publication is for the Spanish queer culture.
Event in Spanish with English Translation.
Copies of the zine will be available for purchase at the end of the conversation and before the party.
From 10 pm to 1.30am we will host the official festival's party with DJ's Jimmy Acid and 2CPERREA
Paco y Manolo
Paco y Manolo (Francisco Moyano and Manuel Rodríguez) were born, live and work in Barcelona. Their first photographs focused mainly on portraiture. Proof of this are his works for different magazines and newspapers such as aB, La Luna de El Mundo, Neo2, Rock de Lux, Marie Claire, Metal, Tentaciones... In 2004 they presented “Common People” at Iguapop Gallery, a series of nudes of anonymous people. From that moment on, they progressively put aside their work for publications and focus on more personal projects, such as “Memento Mori”, “Preludio”, or “Forgotten Dreams”. Since then his work has been based on the nude, and revolves around themes such as the passage of time, loss, gender or the relationships of man with his environment. In 2006 they presented Kink Ediciones, a publisher with which they published Kink, a magazine dedicated to male nudes that, in addition to our country, is distributed in places such as Germany, France, England, Australia and the United States. In 2021, the documentary “Everything at the same time” by Chilean writer and filmmaker Alberto Fuguet will be released, about his work and the process of creating Kink magazine. A documentary that has been presented at festivals around the world, such as Wicked Queer Boston 2021, Toronto Inside Out 2021, Queer Film Festival Vienna 2021, Atlantida Film Festival Palma de Mallorca 2021, Rome International Independent Film Festival 2021 or FI Flare London 2022, among many others.
Jimmy Acid
Jimmy Acid plays vibrant house and disco sounds from the 80s & 90s through to newer selections including italo, hi-nrg, freestyle and new beat to acid house, trance, chicago and detroit sounds. An obsession with discovering overlooked dancefloor gems has culminated in his distinctive sound that is uplifting and refreshing on the contemporary club scene. He plays regularly at Dalston Superstore, Adonis, Block 9 at Glastonbury and queer parties around London and further afield. He is also co-founder of the new London based queer party Tickle which focuses on spotlighting emerging female talent.
2CPERREA
2CPERREA is a collective created by latinx queer people, for latinx queer people, defined by their transparency and clear approach towards creating a safe space. We formed in response to the vacuum of latinx queer culture in London. At 2CPERREA our roots, our beats and our essence are celebrated. Together, we bring to our community a fresh, new, loving and sexy environment where we can dance to perreo without being judged, bringing the latinx influence to London.
