But I'm A Cheerleader is one of the world's most beloved LGBTQIA+ films and a trailblazing work for lesbian representation on screen. It also happens to be the most requested film here at BQFF!
Meet Megan, a naive tofu loving teen who doesn't think there's anything abnormal about her All-American lifestyle: she's a cheerleader and has a boyfriend (although she doesn't like kissing him very much). But when her parents and friends conclude that she's a lesbian, she's shipped off to 'sexual redirection' school, full of openly queer misfits, where she can learn how to be straight.
Will Megan be turned around to successful heterosexuality, or will she succumb to her feelings for one of her new classmates?
A classic in the queer cannon starring Natasha Lyonne, Clea Duvall, RuPaul and more.
Shown on the big screen for the big kick off and followed by a social at FUSE Art Space.
