SWASH x SWARM: Transnational Solidarity from the UK to Japan

Join us for a night of talks, performances and more in celebration of solidarity between the UK sex worker rights movement and our comrades in Japan from SWASH, a Japanese sex worker rights group.

Sex worker activists in Japan are facing increased stigma and harassment from many angles - this event aims to raise awareness of this, as well as learning more about the sex worker rights movement in Japan and raising some money for the cause!

Expect talks from SWASH members as well as UK sex worker activists, some incredible performances and more. We'll also be bringing back the famous SWARM raffle and already have some incredible prizes!

The Lineup

Gaymakimaki - Gaymakimaki is the President of SWASH (Sex Work and Sexual Health), a Japanese sex worker rights organisation. She has performed in several plays and contemporary dance shows. She creates both classical and avant-garde performances. The main themes of her performances are about gender and sex work. She focuses specially on the energy flow of people who continue to live and resist, even in the face of continuous crisis- both mental and physical. To Gaymakimaki, everywhere is her stage, whether it involves theatre or the street.

Milkmaiden - A firm believer in laughing in the face of the enemy and everything silly, Milkmaiden (Previously known as ‘Natalie and the Monarchy’) is your new favourite bimbo cuntry music star. Milkmaiden is inspired by a legacy of divine, and unhinged women such as Kate Bush, Fiona Apple, and Dolly Parton with a big attitude of being crude, rude, and half-nude. As part of the Sexquisite collective, you might’ve seen her grace the stage of BGWM (RIP) as a cabaret acoustic act or fronting her band in a variety of very sweaty and very full local dives. Her music is for the wh0res, the dykes, the dogs and if you aren’t either — stand in the back x

Daddy Maki

Born out of the queer Pan-Asian Cabaret Collective, Bitten Peach, Daddy Maki is a mixed British-Japanese drag king, who turns the heat up and takes off their pants in the kitchen. Having performed at Mighty Hoopla and Glastonbury to Soho Theatre and The Glory, Daddy Maki is always ready to take off his clothes and show you his culture wherever he is.

Cybertease

Cybertease is a sex worker collective and workers’ co-op. They are unionised, organised, and passionate about smashing stigma and stereotypes. They run public and private events such as dazzling pop-up strip club nights and scorchingly sexy private parties; bookings for performances such as for saucy stag-dos;and are loud advocates for sex workers’ rights, whether marching on the streets or talking to the press. They’re flaming hot socialists, and demand decriminalisation for sex workers’ rights and safety.
