On the second Wednesday of the month we meet in Category Is to organise Camp Trans Scotland.
Who?
Camp Trans Scotland is a peer-led, DIY, sober camp organised by trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming people. The camp is not put on for us, we’re all part of creating a space that aims to be safe, inclusive, nourishing and fun.
What?
Camp Trans Scotland is a weekend camping holiday held in the Scottish Highlands. It’s a chance for us to be surrounded by trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming people and to be affirmed in our gender journey. We want to strengthen our trans community by sharing meals, a bonfire, workshops and space under the stars in nature.
Why?
Trans lives are often exhausted by the grind of living in a transphobic society. Although there are queer spaces, it can be hard to access self-organised trans spaces. We are interested in offering trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming people a rest from cis-majority spaces. By giving ourselves space to breathe and be inspired by each other's gender journeys, we hope the camp might support greater trans community resilience in Scotland.
Where?
Aberfeldy, Perthshire
When?
6-8 September, 2024
Cost, access, transport, workshops/programme and other practical things?
These are the things that we’re working out at our organising meetings 🙂. Please come along, get involved and help make Camp Trans Scotland as glorious as our community is.
