After the local elections of 2 May, the East London rs21 branch will be discussing the results and what they might tell us about the general election later in 2024. Labour hold a massive lead in the polls, while the Tories are in freefall. While polls show an uptick in support for the Greens, Nigel Farage's hard-right Reform UK are consistently placing third, ahead of the Lib Dems. What role can the left play in and the elections, and what are the possibilities for independent and pro-Palestine candidates?
The Branch Meeting will also include a session on letter writing for political prisoners involved in pro-Palestine protests in Britain today.
