Queer Family Cabaret
Welcome to a relaxed and fun afternoon for families of all ages and abilities, to learn and explore performance skills, located at the VFD Outsiders Gallery 64 Stoke Newington Rd. The workshop will be led by Arkem and Sally (see their details below).
The workshop will open at 1.30 pm and will run between 2 pm and 4.30 pm.
(Please aim to arrive with at least 15 minutes to settle in).
The workshop begins with games to warm-up and then an easy-to-follow process that will help you to create a character and a costume.
Further games enable you to share your character in an impromptu performance in front of your fellow participants.
In cabaret, the audience and performers support and encourage each other during a performance. We are looking to make this a no-pressure day. This workshop will end with a celebration of each other.
As families, we hope that you will have laughed and created new ways to have fun together.
The workshops are led by experienced and caring performers , who aim to be accessible, inclusive and responsive. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any queries beforehand.
The workshops have been well received by families we have worked with already. We continue to develop it via your feedback, with built-in time for this at the end of the day.
The ground floor is a fully accessible space with a bathroom designed by wheel chair users.
