Overview
Are you LGBTI+ and were living in Scotland between 2020-2022 during the Covid-19 pandemic? Do you want to share your experiences of domestic violence and abuse during this time directly with the Scottish Covid-19 Inquiry via the Lets Be Heard project? Equality Network and Scottish Trans invite you to tell us how the pandemic affected you.
Let’s Be Heard (the Covid-19 Inquiry’s listening project) is seeking LGBTI+ people’s experiences of the pandemic in Scotland from 1st January 2020 to 31st December 2022 across different subject areas in partnership with the Equality Network and Scottish Trans. During this session on domestic violence and abuse, participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences in a safe space which will be gathered and collated into a report produced by the Equality Network and sent to the Inquiry. This information will then form part of the Inquiry’s overall investigation, reports and final recommendations to Scottish Ministers which will be published on the Scottish COVID-19 Inquiry website when available.
Other sessions will include LGBTI+ experiences of Covid-19 in relation to:
- Digital Inclusion – Wednesday 2nd October, 12-1:30pm
- Poverty and Housing– Friday 4th October, 12-1:30pm
- Pregnancy and Maternity – Monday 7th October, 2-3:30pm
- Domestic Violence and Abuse – Wednesday 9th October, 12-1:30pm
The events will take place online on Zoom. They will be hosted by Christopher (Policy and Campaigns Officer) and Erin (Policy Coordinator) from Equality Network, and Florence Oulds (Policy Officer) from Scottish Trans. The events will also be attended by a representative from the Let’s Be Heard project.
Let’s Be Heard are committed to supporting access and inclusion for people wishing to engage with the inquiry. Participants may sign up to more than one session but must register for each event separately. Attendees will receive a GiftPay voucher for their participation worth £25 per session attended.
