Join us for our second SERVICE PLEASE ! at SET SOCIAL - Sunday October 20th !!!
This event includes a clothes mending workshop followed by a 3-course communal meal:
– 2PM: 2-hour clothes-mending workshop led by Laura Wyatt. The workshop will cover basic darning and sashiko mending techniques, which are great ways of repairing clothes and extending their lives! A team of volunteers will be on hand to assist you if needed, and please remember to bring an item of clothing to repair with you!
– 4:30PM: 3-course meal served in the main hall, prepared by the SP! team and volunteers. The meal is a set menu designed by us to make the most of available seasonal food, including surplus and locally-grown produce (see menu below!). Food will be served to share across tables so expect to be seated with other people!
We expect the event to wrap up by 7pm.
TICKET PRICING:
All Service Please ! events are priced on a pay-what-you-can model with tickets starting at £5. At checkout, there are 5 ticket options to choose from depending on your ability to pay, with a recommended ticket price of £20 to help us cover the cost of food and the workshop. There are pay-it-forward options for those who can afford to, which fund the cheaper tickets and make this project sustainable long-term. Our events are 100% non-profit, any money made on top of that will go towards funding future events.
We believe the joys of communal eating should be accessible to all, and that food systems should be built on solidarity rather than exclusivity, and the pay-what-you-can model helps us achieve that.

Below is the planned menu for the event, although we might be making a few last-minute tweaks depending on available seasonal + surplus produce. The sharing menu is designed to cater for vegetarian and vegan guests, but unfortunately we're unable to offer gluten-free alternatives. Please let us know of any dietary requirements at checkout, just to help us plan quantities etc, thank you! :)

ABOUT SERVICE PLEASE !
Service Please ! is a pay-what- you-can communal dining initiative based in south-east London. We host affordable supper clubs, aiming to bring together our local community and help people explore and develop new skills while having a delicious meal. Our events offer a restaurant-quality three-course meal at an accessible price alongside a workshop taught in a welcoming, friendly environment. We’re 100% non-profit and run by volunteers.
Our vision is to provide an accessible dining experience which challenges the huge inequalities in access to eating out, which have only widened as a result of the cost of living crisis. In the face of increasing social isolation, communal eating can be an incredibly powerful way of bringing people together and strengthening the local community. We also aim to work in collaboration with local community growing spaces and gardens, food organisations, as well as using as much surplus and locally-grown food as possible for our events.
In the spirit of community-building, the supper clubs will include a workshop where we can learn from each other, developing skills that are usually less accessible, whether they be crafts, DIY, or life skills (just to name a few examples). Above all we hope to create events that welcome people from as many different backgrounds as possible, and contribute to the growing network of alternative food models in southeast London, placing community and accessibility above profit margins.
