Queer Cinema Club is excited to present Rafiki!
Set against the backdrop of Nairobi, two women must choose between love and safety as they try to hide their relationship from their politically opposed fathers, in this queer Romeo and Juliet romance.
Directed by Wanuri Kahiu, Rafiki was the first Kenyan film to be included in the Un Certain Regard section in Cannes in 2018 and was then controversally banned from being shown in Kenya by the Kenyan Film Classification board.
