Queer Mehndi Nights is especially for the LGBTQ* South Asian community, come and find a friend to practice your henna skills with, or simply just hang out for the evening.
Tucked away in a Chai shop away from the bustle of the high street, we gather. The air is thick with the smell of incense and the rich scent of fresh henna. The room hums with the low murmur of chatter—stories shared, laughter flowing, and a palpable sense of queer joy. This monthly ritual is where the Queer South Asian community comes together, to reconnect, create, and celebrate. For many, it’s a chance to reclaim a part of our culture and exist as our whole selves fully and unapologetically. It’s a night that feels like chosen family, where the henna flows, the conversations run deep, and everyone is welcomed along for the night.
The event takes place up a narrow staircase in Chai Ra Coffee Shop, in a small room that is not visible from the high street.
