‘The glitch is an activist prayer, a call to action, as we work toward fantastic failure.’ - Legacy Russell
GLITCHED is a new trans-focused queer party dedicated to showcasing the experimental dance music that has always been central to queer culture, and creating a space for London’s LGBTQIA+ community to express themselves through this music. We will curate lineups that draw on the history of queer music, from disco through to techno and hyperpop, showcasing a wide range of DJs, all focused on the creation of queer community on the dancefloor. Queer nightlife often becomes focused on all its visual and physical aspects, its outfits and aesthetics. We want to create a space where the dancefloor is somewhere you can disappear into for a night, surrounded by music you haven’t heard before, and finding community in the futuristic experimentation that often only music can provide.
Our first night, “Just Like We Never Said Amen”, will feature a wide variety of sounds, including breaks, footwork, techno and hyperpop. The sounds played at GLITCHED will change in each iteration.
“Just Like We Never Said Amen”, and future GLITCHED nights, will donate a portion of ticket sales to Trans Kids Deserve Better, an action group resisting the assault on the rights of all trans people, especially trans children, in the UK. They have occupied the offices of the Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, disrupted transphobic conferences by releasing crickets into the conference hall, and are running art shows for trans kids to articulate what it is like to live under a ban on their healthcare. All tickets will contribute toward the donation to TKDB, and all of the extra money taken on “Solidarity” tickets will be donated.
GLITCHED is a night run by queer people, for queer people. Considerate allies are welcome, we always reserve the right to decline entry. Please, no photos inside: dancefloors are for escaping. We do not tolerate any type of transphobia, homophobia, racism or xenophobia in the world, or on our dancefloor.
