ROLE PLAYING CARE, an in-person puppet workshop
FREE
26 APRIL 2025 | 2 - 4 PM
Explore the caring roles we take up in our lives through a playful creative puppetry workshop led by theatre-maker and director, Amber Sophia Williams. Together we will develop narratives and characters that speak to our experiences of caring for others, both light and dark.
We will give ourselves permission to explore the challenging as well as affirming aspects of care, playfully exploring social expectations, power dynamics and coping strategies in a supportive, informal space.
Amber was the co-creator of the one-act show, Salt the Threshold, which was put on at Camden People’s Theatre in 2024. Drawing on her own experience of being a carer throughout much of her twenties, the show explored chronic illness and unpaid care work through the lens of queer horror and folklore.
Amber began her career as an actor before broadening her practice to directing and making. Her work often explores the relationship between the familiar and domestic and the weird and uncanny, often using magical realism, absurdism, and puppetry.
We strive to provide a physical environment that is accessible to all visitors. This includes:
Some in person and digital events can be offered with a BSL interpreter. Please contact us one week in advance of the event and we will try to accommodate this.
