Through poetry and somatic exercises, we’ll reimagine femininity beyond the binary. Engaging with works by trans and non-binary poets, we’ll write, reflect, and explore how inclusive femininity can be a source of strength, connection, and self-expression.
✨✨✨
Queering Femininity is an invitation to explore, express and affirm diverse experiences of femininity and womanhood through poetry and movement.
Together, we’ll read and discuss poems by queer femme, trans women and non-binary people of colour that illuminate the vast and multifaceted realities of femininity beyond rigid, white supremacist, cis-heteropatriarchal definitions. By intentionally centring these marginalised voices, we'll foster solidarity with those historically and currently excluded from mainstream discourses around womanhood.
Through guided writing exercises, we'll craft individual and collective poems that reflect our unique experiences of gender, queerness and femininity. To support this creative process, we'll engage in grounding somatic practices designed to deepen our connection with our embodied experiences of womanhood.
As anti-LGBTQ+ policies and rhetoric escalate across the UK and globally, Queering Femininity offers a vital space for collective care, creative resistance and solidarity through the transformative power of poetry. It’s an opportunity to reclaim femininity on your own terms and celebrate the beauty of gender diversity.
All materials will be provided and no previous artistic or writing experience is necessary, the workshop is designed to be open and fulfilling for those with or without a creative background. Whether you're an experienced writer or new to poetry, you'll be welcomed into a supportive, affirming environment where your truth can be seen, heard and honoured.
Our Facilitator:
Lydia Rose, a queer femme poet, facilitator and abolitionist, this workshop offers a space for queer and trans women, non-binary and gender non-conforming people to cultivate self-determination and celebrate the broad spectrum of what it means to embody womanhood as an expansive, political and deeply personal experience.

For Women's History Month 2025, Skaped is putting on another exciting programme, and this year, it's all about solidarity. We'll be exploring what solidarity is, how to maintain it, and what barriers prevent us from uniting, particularly those who identify with the term 'woman' in any capacity.
There's power in womanhood and sisterhood, and there's no 'right' way to be a woman. But when we exclude certain narratives from the conversation, how are we actually supposed to come together as an empowered collective? Come join us in 4 creative workshops, where we explore this idea, expand our shared concepts of womanhood, and celebrate one another together.
