Here is a little bit about the charity we are supporting
Hert's Youth Homeless (01069498)
Youth homelessness can be a repeating cycle. The biggest cause of which is family breakdown. It doesn’t have to be this way. This is why our mission is to break the cycle of youth homelessness in Hertfordshire.
Many of the young people we support are facing hidden homelessness, which is the lack of a safe, stable, permanent home. This includes sofa surfing with friends or extended family, or staying in temporary accommodation such as hostels.
We offer education, advice and support for 16-24 year olds and their families, through a variety of county-wide specialist services. We aim to provide the best possible tailored support for each individual, across BAME, LGBTQ+ and disability intersections.
Prevention is central to our work, and we believe that to truly achieve our vision of every young person having a home from which they can grow and thrive, we have to tackle the root causes of youth homelessness with innovative and sustainable solutions.
hyh has been supporting people in Hertfordshire since 1998. Our experienced workers are experts in their field and have directly helped over 5400 young people facing homelessness in the last 5 years alone. Over 136,000 young people are facing homelessness in the UK right now, but we provide vital services to support these young people in achieving bright futures.
1 young person every 4 minutes becomes homeless in the UK in 2024
We work with closely in partnership with Herts County Council, local district councils and other agencies to improve local provision and overall, prevent youth homelessness.
hyh’s services range from prevention, to early intervention, crisis support and independent living support .
