Have you ever felt like an exile? Where did your journey begin, and where has it led you?
In this hands-on workshop, we will shape our stories through clay, crafting small objects that symbolise the weight that we carry.
Inspired by Ursula K. Le Guin’s The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction, which proposes the first cultural tool as a container–a carrier bag–for gathering stories, rather than a weapon to conquest. You will design a carrier bag using chappa woodblock stamps to hold and take home the clay pieces representing your journey and the life you continue to build.

Have you ever been left behind? How did you remake yourself? What worlds did you have to reimagine?
As fellow exiles, we invite you to our temporary ‘home’ for a series of workshops where we paint, stitch, build, and learn together. We will sit with the discomforts of our time, using our individual journeys to illuminate new ways forward.
