For our debut screening, Lost Signal Cinema Club is proud to present Kiyoshi Kurosawa's cult classic J-Horror Cure.
There are startling images and moments in this picture that will haunt you for a long time to come, and I suppose I should say that it's not for the faint of heart. But be brave, because it's worth it. Kurosawa is a major filmmaker. - Martin Scorsese
Set against the background of late '90s Tokyo, the film follows a detective trying to solve a wave of gruesome murders, all linked by bizarre similar circumstances. However, the more he learns about the killer and his methods, the more he has to grapple with ideas of good and evil, madness, terror and control. Often stated to be an over-looked precursor to the J-Horror boom of the 2000s, Cure has rightfully since attained cult status among film fans worldwide, and been praised by filmmakers such as Bong Joon-Ho and Martin Scorsese.
This unforgettable and unnerving masterpiece of Japanese pyschological neo-noir horror is not to missed.
