We are so excited to announce that we will be returning to Coed Dylan this year for another Summer Retreat !
Retreat with us to the depths of West Wales in order to deepen your process as an Artist, explore different ways of approaching your craft, and take time to reflect and rejuvenate your creativity within a community of like-minded creatives.
Who is it for?
This is for anyone wanting to spend their time on their acting or directing practice. The retreat is also a chance to switch off your phone and spend a week in nature.
Venue Information:
Coed Dylan is a five-acre plot of land just outside of Carmarthen, built to be a place for wellbeing and skills development in both creatives and young people who learn differently. It has gardens, shacks, a café, a stream, and a homemade compost loo! It borders Green Castle Woods - a Woodland Trust property, which has plenty of walking land, and it is situated 4 miles from Llansteffan Beach, which also boasts a wonderful Castle and coastal walk. If the Welsh weather decides, we also have the choice to work in local village halls! There will be opportunities to support Coed Dylan by helping with volunteer tasks on the property: scything, wood chopping, path clearing etc. If there is anything you wish to do, just ask!
Meals:
Vegetarian meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided for the duration that you are with us. We all help to cook and clear up each meal; do please let us know in advance if you have any food allergies/restrictions so that we may accommodate you.
Accommodation:
Camp on Coed Dylan: You can camp on site free of charge. There is a compost loo and outdoor solar-powered shower (and there is also a local leisure centre and caravan park with showers available to use; both are approximately a five minutes car journey away).

An Important Note about Being on Retreat:
Retreats can be a very strong container for us to deepen and experience more of ourselves. They can connect us into a feeling of community, generosity, and collective spirit.
Lots of conditions help us to do this: being without distraction, meditation, the work. A key factor for this is each other; how we help each other to go deeper by co-creating a space that is supportive, yet challenging in the healthiest of ways.
In order to do this, we ask that you observe the following whilst on retreat with us:
Phones – we are operating a no phone policy for the communal spaces on retreat. We recommend that you keep your phones off for the duration of the retreat in order to get the most out of the experience, but understand if you need to use your phone in the privacy of your tent.
Whole Retreat – we’ve found that retreat is the most transformative when everyone can attend for the whole week. However - we know that life has a way of happening. If your circumstances change after booking, or you know now of a day you’ll have to be away, drop us a line! Then we can work out together what might be best.
If you feel that some of the above will be difficult for you, then please email us before booking and we can discuss any these through with you.
Please bear in mind that the retreat features extended periods of silence, reflection, and the challenge of engaging with our own minds, habits, and personal themes. If you're at all unsure how you this will work for you, do get in touch with us at livpicstheatre@gmail.com and we can discuss this further.
