These company classes sit at the heart of the creation IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!, under the artistic direction of Julian Nichols.
The classes take place during the creation period for IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!, supporting the professional development and visibility of the company. Classes will take place at Studio Wayne McGregor, Chisenhale Dance Space & The Source Theatre.

Please note, these classes are for professional dancers.
Each class offers dancers access to professional training while connecting them to the wider ecology of the project.
Classes rotate daily and are led by a different guest teacher, each bringing their own artistic practice. Sessions will be one of the following:
- Contemporary -Technique
- Ballet
- Ballet for Contemporary Dancers (with Julian Nichols)
- Contemporary Improvisation
While centred in professional practice, classes are informed by Bodies in Action’s wider values of consent, inclusion, and trauma-aware working. Professional dancers of all identities are welcome to join.

What to Expect
- Professional Company Class training within a supportive, focused environment
- Structured technical work alongside creative or improvisational tasks (depending on class type)
- A connection to a wider creation process exploring queer identity, joy, milestones, and self-reflection
Capacity & Pricing
- Ballet – max 11 spaces
- Yoga/Pilates– max 8 spaces
- Contemporary -max 14 spaces
Class fee: Pay what you can per class (£5 minimum) + booking fee.

Classes will run Monday-Friday from 10am-11/11:15am during the 13th April- 22nd May, with the exception of Saturday 23rd May, where class will be held at 3-4pm.

Location: Classes take place at either Studio Wayne McGregor or Chisenhale Dance Space, depending on the week. The performance week (w/c 18th May) classes take place at The Source, Stratford.
