Join the Film High Club for a screening of Karan Kandhari's comedy, Sister Midnight (2024), with an intro and post-film discussion.
Karan Kandhari’s darkly funny and anarchic tale of a marriage unravelling into midnight chaos, with an intro and post-film discussion.
Just arrived in Mumbai, living in a tiny shack with paper-thin walls, acerbic Uma and soft-spoken Gopal are trapped in a very new, very awkward arranged marriage. At first, Uma does her best to cope with the heat, her lack of domestic skills, her bumbling spouse and their nosy neighbours, but the nocturnal world of the city changes her. Transformed into a disturbing and ruthless figure, Uma succumbs to her most feral impulses. Blending deadpan humour with surreal edge, the film turns everyday confinement into something wild and unpredictable.

The screening will be introduced by an invited speaker and a post-screening discussion will follow the film.
