After a smashing party a few weeks ago, the Spanish Queer collective Lady Olé are back at their East London home for their November rendez-vous, and they promise to take you on a journey Around The World (around the world in kitschy dragventures and world-class heritage outfits, that is)
For this occasion we will have resident DJs Los Alejandros spinning their usual combo of Spanish, Latin and Euro dance, pop, kitsch and queer hits from the last few decades until today. They will be joined by two of Barcelona's best kept secrets and in-demand globetrotters. Read closely!
GUEST DJS
Ari Korrales (or how to be 'the total artist') is a Chilean-born actor, musician, producer, drag, DJ and overall showman that set his home in Barcelona some 15 years ago. A queer clubkid-cum-celebrity in Spain, he has played ALL main parties and clubs (Razzmattazz, Apolo, CityHall, Metro, Teatro Principal) with sets diverse enough to fit comfortably Circuit parties, European cruises or Pride celebrations. Madrid, Buenos Aires, Santiago, Lausanne, Paris, Helsinki, Londres... the list really is never-ending and this drag/dj knows no limits. His DJ sets travel across kitsch dancefloors of the last three decades making you dance and sing-a-long like there's no tomorrow. It's a dance or die approach with Ari, which one do you choose? #arikorrales #dragqueenDj #danceordie
Swimming across oceans all the way from Santa Mónica beach via the Catalan Maresme, The Real Pamela, was rescued from the Thames river during our last boat party before she was about to be eaten by her own swimsuit. Blonde, hilarious and dress in red, The Real Pamela is making her DJ debut at Lady Olé with what promises to be an energetic and camp set that will have you drowning in your own piss. This Pam needs no Tommy and she is committed to change her native blue shark-infested waters for the equally dangerous cocaine fuelled eels of London's river Thames. The Real Pamela is on a mission to save your life through dancing!
DRESSCODE
Around The World is aimed at turning the dancefloor into an explosion of colour, textures, nonsense and diversity from all over the planet. It is wide enough for you to be as dragventurous as you wish. How about exploring the ancient walls of China wearing a Kimono just to later end up undressing for a Tiki Hawaiian selfie whilst grabbing a tequila Mariachi-style before it all goes Indiana Jones in a roaring African Safari?. If the weather turns cold, you can always sport a Flamenco diva dress to cover up your legs, an Andean Pollera over your shoulder or simply wear Bavarian Lederhosen socks Oktoberfest-style. We know you love your Lonely Planet collection to show your mates how much of a traveller you are, but we also know you have accumulated so many bloody stupid souvenirs that will never be used. This is your chance to wear them!
Note: we think it may be a bit too hot if you turn up as an eskimo. If you feel gloomy and all fails, just grab a meter-long baguette, place it under your armpit as if nothing will ever matter and be as French as you can. Add some cheese and feed it to a hottie :)
Around the World is on, see you on the dancefloor hun!
