Join us for the FIRST EVER edition of Butch Femme Pride in 2026!
Dapper dyke, as the name suggests, is for ALL dykes (lesbian, bi, pan, ace, trans, FLINTA+ spectrum). Our organisers have always had a soft spot for Butch/Femme dynamics (including subversions), and as members of the community, wanted to throw a pride celebration that is boldly and unapologetically Butch/Femme
This summer, we have chosen to shout out a niche that is dear to us: 50’s Pinup/Rockabilly.
Help us bring back the lesbian bars of the 50s! Times were rough back then, but the lesbian community was resilient and self-recognised even when nobody wanted to give us the validation or dignity we deserve. For Black and Latinx people, especially in the American South, also had a lesbian bar culture with Butch/Femme identities. At the same time in mainstream straight culture, booming genres and subcultures like blues, rock and roll, and country music were being developed in those areas by the same people who were being persecuted for being themselves.
DRESS CODE: 50s rockabilly
Rockabilly was (and is) a subculture originated in the North of Mexico and the South of the United States. It is one of the earliest subgenres of rock & roll, so if you like that vibe, you need to get with the programme! We’re talking cowboy aesthetics, mixed with leather and biker culture, mixed with rock & roll, American extravagance and glam 50’s pinup aesthetics, which all fused together to create what we now understand as rock. We especially welcome and encourage working class and “minority” (global majority) people to reclaim this subculture (and get their discounts).
In a time where Dyke & Lesbian identities are constantly under fire, we want to show how fun and easy it can be to just dress up and cruise old school (let your body, looks, and the outfit do the talking). All dykes are welcome; we are just especially celebrating the Butch/Femme community this pride season (whatever your current gender presentation or dating situation is). We will also be releasing moodboards and outfit inspiration on our social media account @dapperpresents.
