Building the Next Decade: Section 28
Join us for the second Older Queer Voices Round Table. This is a hybrid event, and you are registering for the online event.
Following the insightful conversation at our last Older Queer Voices event, held at the House of Commons, we invite you to join us for our next round table, which is about Section 28.
We will unpack our experiences of the clause, and explore what we can learn from that successful fight to help build the next decade with optimism and intergenerational support.
Today’s challenges look different from 1988, when the clause came into law, but many of the questions echo: How do we protect progress? How do we respond when rights are challenged?
We will ask: what can we learn from the past to help us meet the current moment? What can different generations learn from one another? How do we ensure that our futures are shaped by courage, collaboration and community?
Queer Britain co-founder and former Editor of Gay Times, Joseph Galliano-Doig MBE, will facilitate the discussion with the audience, whose contributions will be captured in a post-event report and help inform strategies that ensure our LGBTQ+ people thrive, no-matter their age.
Expect a morning of honest conversation, thoughtful challenge, lived experience and hope.
Most importantly, expect to hear powerful voices, connect with younger and older LGBTQ+ people, and help shape the future of our communities.
We look forward to welcoming you.
